“Fearless”. This is the slogan with which Davide Moretti presents himself at Ax Milano. The 22 year old son of art (his father Paolo was trained by Ettore Messina at Virtus Bologna) is at the first professional experience after the three seasons at Texas Tech. “I’m here to learn, but I’m not afraid – says Moretti, during the conference in the Armani theater -: to pass from the NCAA to the Euroleague, for me, it is a great challenge and I will have to be ready, improving in defense and getting used to the rhythms of the game as soon as possible. I want to emerge.”
Moretti, also sought by Virtus Bologna in the summer, considers Milan “the best opportunity at the right time”.
“I can be coached by a coach like Ettore Messina and learn the tricks of the trade from Rodriguez, Delaney and Cinciarini. But leaving Texas Tech was not easy.” Moretti talks about the American experience with great transport and underlines how far away has “given solidity” to the relationship with his father: “He was always awake at night to follow me, I was alone there and in the first year I didn’t speak English well but when I felt it I was he always said the right thing. He was a great player and it is very motivating to try to do better than he does.”
