Simona Halep has decided to unsubscribe from the Palermo tournament. This was communicated this morning by the manager of the Romanian player Virginia Ruzici who explained how the decision is based on the recent anti-covid measures that impose quarantine in Italy for those coming from Romania and Bulgaria.
“We learned with great regret of the decision of n. 2 in the world to unsubscribe from the 31st Palermo Ladies Open – said the tournament director, Oliviero Palma – until yesterday we were optimistic and we had detailed the Halep staff in detail that professional players should not go into quarantine. Halep staff put us in front of the fait accompli, thus nullifying all our efforts. We are embittered and deeply disappointed. ”
The Palermo WTA tournament, which has been taking place on clay since August 3, is set to mark the resumption of the tennis season after a five-month hiatus.
